My family has been using the sugar cookie recipe for decades. Legend has it that we stole it off of a sugar bag more than 40 years ago, but we haven't found a fancier recipe that beats it! My kids enjoy frosting these cookies in bright colors with abundant sprinkles. They freeze great which allows me to deliver fresh cookies to clients throughout the holiday season!
Best Drop Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
2 ¾ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 ½ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°.
Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder). Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 9 minutes until golden. Let stand 2 minutes on cookie sheet before removing to wire racks.
